Max Futcher joins Sharyn Ghidella on Seven News Queensland

From tonight, Max Futcher will join Sharyn Ghidella, Shane Webcke, Pat Welsh, Tony Auden and Paul Burt presenting Seven News.

The father-of-two is a true Queenslander with an award-winning career spanning more than 26 years in news journalism and broadcasting.

Commenting on his new role, Max said: “Queensland is about to undergo a remarkable transformation and it’s never been more important to have a trusted news source to keep people informed. I am honoured to be given the opportunity of presenting the news on behalf of the experienced reporters and highly skilled crew who bring home the big stories from around our suburbs and across the globe.”

Sharyn Ghidella added: “It will be a privilege to sit alongside one of the best journalists in the business and I look forward to welcoming Max to his new role with the Seven News team. “

Max joined the Brisbane team as senior reporter in 2014 and in addition to covering major local and international stories also presented the summer editions of Seven News.

Neil Warren, Brisbane News Director, said: “Max Futcher is a local success story … he was born here, went to school at Albany Creek. Max has spent 26 years reporting on some of the biggest local stories and world events. Four Olympics, the death of Nelson Mandela, London terror attacks, plus cyclones, floods and elections in Queensland just to name a few. He always digs deeper, and puts the facts first and has earned his place on the desk with Sharyn, bringing Seven News into the homes of Queenslanders”.

Max will be presenting Seven News from the upcoming 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast.

Seven News with Sharyn Ghidella and Max Futcher weeknights at 6.00pm on Seven.
