It’s almost Masterchef time and today we got a first look at some contestants who Australia will hopefully be given a chance to fall in love with.
Among this year’s contenders determined to follow their food dreams are Victorian Jarrod Trigg, Queenslander Fiona Grindlay and Stephen Rooney from NSW.
Hot-blooded hipster Jarrod, 29, took up cooking in his early 20s when he relocated from rural Victoria to Melbourne. After initially working as a civil engineer, he made the big decision to pursue a career in food. In a bid to impress the judges and make it into the MasterChef Australia kitchen, Jarrod whips up an extraordinary curry. But is he too generous with the chilli?

Recruitment consultant Stephen Rooney, 31, grew up in the UK and has always loved cooking. Stephen is confident his roast will delight the judges. But he will need to produce something much more adventurous and tantalising than the average Sunday roast to secure a spot in the Top 24.

With an established career in marketing, Fiona Grindlay, 31, has also worked as an actor, writer, model and snowboard instructor. The bubbly Glaswegian now has her sights set on a future in food. Not one to shy away from a challenge, Fiona decides to showcase her heritage by serving up haggis. Will Matt, George and Gary be able to stomach this Scottish classic?
