The highly anticipated sixth season of award-winning and top rating police procedural drama Line of Duty will be calling BritBox its exclusive Australian home.
Making its debut in June 2012, Line of Duty has gained huge traction for the BBC, with its Season 5 finale cliffhanger seeing 9.1M viewers tune in and Line of Duty becoming an enormous ratings success in the UK since the initial season aired.
There has not been a new season of Line of Duty for more than two years with Season 5 premiering in March 2019. Fans of the series are on tenterhooks for the launch of Season 6 with a great deal of online commentary already starting, leading into its global premiere date. BritBox Australia will also be the only place for Aussie audiences to stream the complete series of Line of Duty, with seasons 1-5 already available on the service.
Moira Hogan, Country Manager of BritBox Australia says: “I’m a massive fan of Line of Duty and it’s exciting to have Season 6 available exclusively for its many fans on BritBox. Not only is it award-winning, but it’s one of those quality series that showcases everything that’s great about premium British crime dramas. It has an amazing cast, and its writer and creator Jed Mercurio is a genius at the multi-series story arc that builds over time and keeps us all guessing. Line of Duty is the kind of television show that fits perfectly into our BritBox line up of gripping drama and gritty crime.”
Line of Duty follows a team of detectives in Anti-Corruption Unit 12 (AC-12) as they work on a series of anti-corruption cases within the police force.
Featuring a talented returning cast including series leads Vicky McClure (Broadchurch, Alex Rider, This is England), Martin Compston (The Nest, Traces) and Adrian Dunbar (Blood, The Hollow Crown), Season 6 of Line of Duty will also see new addition Kelly MacDonald (Trainspotting, Boardwalk Empire, Giri/Haji) guest star.
Macdonald will take on the role of Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Davidson – a senior investigating officer on an unsolved murder, whose unconventional conduct raises suspicions at AC-12.
