The teams enter the LEGO Masters studio to find empty fish tanks lurking in the dark; mysteriously Hamish and Brickman appear from behind to reveal today’s challenge.
The teams see nine tanks, with two base plates on each, one at the bottom and one on top, and each team will be given a different historical era of civilisation to build where they must build a civilisation “not of this world” and connect it with a creature lurking below; but the twist is, once their builds are complete the tanks will be filled with water and their builds must stay intact when the tank is filled. Each team randomly selects a minifig civilisation and have nine hours to build.
MINIFIG CIVILIZATION PAIRINGS
Aztec – Gabby & Owen – AUS
Spartan – Alex & Trent – AUS
Pirate – Emily & Sarah – NZ
Roman – Nick & Stacey – Canada
Samurai – Vidar & Albin – Sweden
Egyptian – Dai & Jiayuan – China
Viking – Henry & Cade – AUS
Knight – Oskari & Aura – Finland
Cowboy – David & G – AUS
As the clock starts, the teams take off to begin their builds. New Zealand’s Emily & Sarah are thrilled with their Pirate minifig pick, Pirates and water are a match made in heaven, so they are confident with their build idea. They aim to create a Pirate ship that is under attack by a Kraken monster lurking beneath the waves ‘Rise of the Kraken”.
Nick & Stacey in Team Canada are lost and confused, they don’t know anything about the Roman civilisation other than they were conquerors. They decided to create a Roman seaport where Romans are going about their day but underneath the water surface there is a huge monster/ghost of all the lost souls of the people the Romans have conquered; “The Ghosts of Rome”. Team Canada is ready to conquer this challenge!
Team China received the Egyptian minifig, they are making a Cat monster that’s being held captive by an evil Pharaoh and is trying desperately to escape; “The Pharaoh’s Cat”. Brickman is excited about their story. Henry & Cade receive the Viking minifig and love the theme, they are confident with their civilisation. They build “The Viking’s Catch” where a lone Viking out on the ice too long, cold and frosty with a fishing rod going down under the surface and the serpent lurking under the surface. They are the only team that don’t use their minifig and make a Viking character, this pays off for them as it gives more emotion to their build.
Oskari & Aura from Team Finland are having so much fun with their Knight build, Oskari loves building minifig cities and Aura’s passion is building monsters. They create “The Skeleton King’s Gold” , a Knight watch tower that’s under attack by a skeleton monster trying to steal the king’s gold.
Team Sweden is excited to have the Samurai minifig, but they have no clue what they should build for the creature. Hamish soon arrives to impart some very important knowledge about Japanese culture, he ‘studied’ ancient civilisations at University. Team Sweden uses Hamish’s incredible knowledge to create a giant Koi fish that will lurk beneath their fishing village, “Samurai Vs the Koi?”
Gabby & Owen get the Aztec minifig, at first, they are lost with their creature, but Hamish comes in to save the day, he informs them of Cipactli, a mythical Crocodile beast and they build “The Aztec Fishodile” – the Aztecs have caught an explorer stealing treasure, so they are hurling him off the temple into the waiting jaws of the Croco fish. As the build progresses Gabby & Owen are determined to win back the Magic Brick, they decide to put a motor in the tank to make their creature bob up and down in the water; this will help make them stand out from the rest of the builds and pull off a LEGO Masters first.
David & G select the Cowboy minifig, G loves building wild west themed builds but linking water with the desert is hard. They decide to make a water scorpion that’s stealing gold from the Cowboys mine above; “The Scorpions Gold”. Aussies, Trent & Alex get the Spartan minifig, Alex isn’t confident about building Spartan’s, but Trent loves this civilisation. They are building a hydra monster that’s attacking their Spartan city; “Attack of the Hydra”.
Halfway through the build, Brickman likes the way Team Finland’s build is going as well as Team Sweden’s but is concerned with Team Canada and Team New Zealand, so he visits Emily & Sarah, telling them that their Octopus tentacles look like sausage links and they need to fix this problem quickly or risk elimination.
As the build continues Brickman visits Team Sweden, as he is concerned, the Koi fish isn’t close to being finished and asks if Vidar should help Albin. Albin is stressed but he’s determined to finish the fish all on his own. Vidar is stressed but trusts his teammate.
After a dramatic nine-hour build, time is up for our teams. Brickman is impressed by all the builds but it’s Team Sweden (Vidar & Albin) and Team Finland (Oskari & Aura) that secure the top two positions. After a tough build, the new holder of the Magic Brick is Team Sweden, their first win in the competition and keeping them safe from the next elimination.
The bottom two teams today are Team New Zealand and Team Canada and unfortunately, time is up for New Zealand’s Emily & Sarah who are the second team to be eliminated.
