In this episode the challenge kicks off in a Regional Chinese themed restaurant, where 10 teams must pick an item or group of items and create an exact replica out of LEGO bricks, in nine-hours.

In the mad dash for an item Finland’s Oskari and Trent from team Australia, make a giant leap for “Flower Vase” leaving Trent victorious.  Owen & Gabby, winner of the Magic Brick, pick “The Pillar”, the largest item in the restaurant.  Team China Dai & Jiayuan choose the fish tank that holds “Three Lobsters” in it. Canadian’s Nick & Stacey choose “Fish Tank Ornaments”” that contain fake fish, some floating greenery and a pagoda in the other fishtank. David & G, pick the “Bonsai tree”. Vidar & Albin select the “Lucky Cat”. Team NZ choose the “Three deep fryer spoons”.  Finland’s, Oskari & Aura, pick the “Lazy Susan”, Team USA select the “Large black cabinet” and Henry & Cade, pick the “Cash Register”.

Trent & Alex start to build, and Alex concentrates on the flowers and stems, while Trent spends a whopping 4hours on a vase that he can’t get working.

Choosing the 9foot Pillar is a risk Owen is willing to take as they have the Magic Brick and are safe from elimination. Despite Gabby’s frustration they both must build at lightning speed to create a 9ft Pillar in the nine hours as they estimate tens of thousands of bricks to be used today.

For New Zealanders, Emily & Sarah – it was a painful decision as to what item to pick. After lengthy consideration, Emily chooses the “Three deep fryer spoons”.  They are round, have mesh and are also made of wood and seem quite difficult due to their colour and makeup.

Canadian’s Nick & Stacey choose one of the fish tanks with all the “Fish Tank Ornaments” containing fake fish, some floating greenery and a pagoda. Brickman feels like they chose a simple build and could do more, warning them to test their build in the water.

Chinese Team Dai & Jiayuan choose the other water build which holds “Three Lobsters” in a fish tank. Brickman tells them to test as they have a water build and despite a bad first test with floating parts and a breaking lobster, they design the lobsters heavier creating three immaculate lobsters that ultimately look better than the fake lobsters.

David & G, pick the “Bonsai Tree”. David concentrates on building the technic frame and leaves while G builds the pot and base leaving them both proud of their replication and accuracy of their build.

Finland’s, Oskari & Aura, pick the “Lazy Susan” after missing out on the vase of flowers. They are perplexed why it’s lazy and why it’s called Susan. They have 12 items to build on top of the lazy Suan, but 3D printer Oskari wastes no time getting most of the items built immaculately while Aura concentrates on the Lazy Susan and the salt & pepper grinders.

Henry & Cade, pick the “Cash Register”. It’s a large build and has some tricky angles and shapes, leaving them building to the last second, but the Aussie team is extremely happy with their replication.

Team USA, Paul & Nealita are sitting at the bottom of the leaderboard and coming last the last three builds, they need a strong build to stay in the game. They pick the “Large Black cabinet”.  Brickman initially loves the idea but warns them some of their details are not replicated correctly.  Hoping to fix these, they run out of time, but Nealita thinks their build is perfect.

Vidar & Albin from Sweden, select the “Lucky Cat”. Although the smallest build, they are not playing it safe today as it is the only item that moves. Vidar works on the face and arms, while Albin concentrates on the mechanism and body of the cat.

Hamish asks Brickman what he thinks the three items likely to be spotted by the Special Guest are and he answers Gabby & Owen’s “Pillar,” Team China and their “Three Lobsters” and Trent & Alex with the “Vase of Flowers”.

Halfway through the build Trent & Alex make a painstaking decision to scrap the vase and start again, which is terrifying. The vase is not what they were hoping for, but they do get a finished build.  For Team NZ, it proved to be a difficult build, and they came up with creative ways to create the mesh – using NPU (nice parts usage), such as Minifig hands, whips and handcuffs to create the tricky replication. Nick & Stacey test their LEGO in the fish tank under water and it immediately floats, so back to the engineering drawing board with more focus on weighing the LEGO down!  With one hour to go, Team China too tests their Lobsters in the fish tank, but they float, so they also need to weigh them down and they don’t have much time remaining. As Gabby & Owen accomplish what everyone thought they couldn’t and are happy to get a finished build up but have minutes to drag it over to the Regional Chinese Restaurant without it breaking.  An astonishing effort and build today, they hope they can retain the Magic Brick.

Once the items are in place, Special Guest Sophie Monk has a nerve racking 90 seconds to spot the 10 items in the Regional Chinese Restaurant. She only spots two items, Team Sweden’s “Lucky Cat” and Team Finland’s “Lazy Susan” leaving them to miss out on receiving the bonus 3 points.

After nine hours of building, Team China, Dai & Jiayuan impress Brickman with their three lobsters and not getting spotted by special guest Sophie Monk, putting them at the top with 21 points and winning the Magic Brick, making them safe from elimination today and in the next elimination.

It’s down to one point between the bottom two (Team Canada and Team USA) leaving Team USA, Paul and Nealita, to score the lowest points and be the first team eliminated.
