Foxtel is marking World Aids Day with a documentry on Larry Kramer the author of The Normal Heart.
Airing on World AIDS Day, this documentary takes an intimate look at the extraordinary life and work of playwright, author and LGBT activist Larry Kramer (author of The Normal Heart), whose passion and persistence inspired a generation to stand up and fight back. The film utilises personal photos, archival footage, scenes from the semiautobiographical plays The Destiny of Me and The Normal Heart, and three decades of interviews in which Kramer opens up about his past, as do those who know him best. Filmmaker and friend Jean Carlomusto also takes viewers inside Kramer’s 2013 stay in the ICU, as he recuperates from complications of a liver transplant brought on by years of living with HIV.
Juxtaposing footage of Kramer angrily protesting with scenes of him being lovingly cared for in the hospital by his partner David, Larry Kramer: In Love And Anger celebrates a multifaceted figure, known for his quick temper as much as for his endless passion. Airing in competition at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival, Larry Kramer: In Love And Anger pays tribute to an extraordinary and complex advocate in the gay community, whose impact continues to be felt today. Anchored by brutally honest interviews with the author and activist over the past three decades, the film charts Kramer’s highs and lows, both personally and professionally – underlining just how thin the line between the two truly is for him.
