Australia has crowned pole dancing mum Kristy Sellars its new Got Talent champion.
The Melbourne mum-of-three won Australia’s vote with a stunning display of precision, timing, strength and emotion in a powerful pole routine to the song ‘Unsteady’ by X Ambassadors.
Lucy Durack: “That was the ultimate Grand Final performance. What impressed me the most was you told this most beautiful and important story and you made us feel.”
Nicole Scherzinger: “You make me so proud to be a woman, that was profound. You bring power and depth and meaning to pole dancing.”
Shane Jacobson: “Never stop what you’re doing. You do it with such power and yet you’re happy to show us your emotions.”
Knife thrower Captain Ruin was unable to make the Grand Final which left nine acts to compete for the 2019 title and $100,000 prize.
After all nine performances, judges Shane, Lucy, Nicole and Manu Feildel chose four acts to face Australia’s vote – pole artist Kristy, dancer Sienna Osborne, singing housewife Jennifer Anderson and schoolgirl singer Olina Loau.
Host Ricki-Lee then handed the power over to Australia to decide who from this fab four should win the ultimate prize.
On hearing Australia’s decision, a triumphant Kristy, who only six months ago gave birth to her third child, was rendered speechless as she was joined onstage by her husband and eight-year-old daughter Rylie.
“I thought I was going to hold it together until I saw this one,” she said, looking at Rylie.
Kristy plans to put the $100,000 prize money towards creating more shows for people to enjoy: “I love the faces of kids and adults when they watch these performances. Seeing them become completely immersed in another world where they can imagine and dream and be young again. I think we need more of this in the day and age we live in.”
