Last night The Block went under the hammer and what transpired was a wonderful conclusion to a spectacular season.
High school sweethearts Karlie and Will were top of THE BLOCK when they pocketed a whopping $715,000 over reserve, selling for $2,600,000. That was enough to secure them the grand prize of $100,000 taking them to $815,000, enough to cover their upcoming wedding and honeymoon…and then some.
Second place went to Melbourne style queens Julia and Sasha. In a theatrical auction, their apartment sold for just $10,000 less than their downstairs neighbours at $2,590,000. The jubilant duo with their glamorous Hollywood regency inspired home, were still thrilled with the result and netted $660,000 over their reserve price of $1,930,000.
Good news doesn’t stop there. The “golden oldies”, Dan and Carleen in the third auction of the night took home a profit of $525,000 when their apartment sold for $2,490,000.
Newcastle’s husband and wife team Kim and Chris were up next and despite a drawn out auction, achieved a massive success with their apartment reaching $2,305,000 – $425,00 profit to take home to their two young children. (They now plan to buy a caravan).
In the final auction of the night Andy and Ben – the two much-loved school teachers ‘who didn’t have a clue’ from Geelong netted a profit of $510,000 when an underbidder from a previous auction bought their apartment for $2,250,000. (They will now be able to tow Andy’s clapped-out car from the front of the building).
