BINGE today unveiled a first-look teaser for its blockbuster new original series APOCALYPSE, with celebrated presenter Jonathan LaPaglia joining the series as narrator. Having fronted some of Australia’s biggest entertainment formats, including Australian Survivor and Top Gear Australia, Jonathan brings decades of experience guiding audiences through high-stakes storytelling.
Coming soon, APOCALYPSE is a co-commission between BINGE and the UK’s Channel 4 that asks viewers the ultimate question: Could you survive the end of the world?
Filmed in a real abandoned town, now a training centre for urban warfare, APOCALYPSE is one of BINGE’s most ambitious original productions to date. Cinematic in scale and emotionally charged, the eight-part series explores what happens when the comforts of modern life disappear and people are forced to rebuild, reconnect and rely on each other.
Having hosted Australian Survivor for nearly a decade, Jonathan LaPaglia has become one of Australia’s most respected and recognisable television presenters. His deep understanding of strategy, leadership and human behaviour under pressure makes him the ideal voice to guide audiences through APOCALYPSE — a bold social experiment exploring what happens when ordinary people are pushed to extraordinary limits.
Apocalypse Narrator Jonathan LaPaglia said: “When I first heard about APOCALYPSE, I was immediately drawn to the scale and ambition of the project. I’ve spent years watching people navigate pressure, strategy and uncertainty, but this takes those dynamics into a completely new environment. Dropping ordinary people into a post-disaster world where every decision matters creates a fascinating test of resilience, relationships and survival. I can’t wait for audiences to experience the twists, challenges and unexpected moments that unfold.”
Howard Myers-Rifai, Head of Unscripted Originals, Foxtel Group said: “APOCALYPSE represents a major milestone for BINGE and our commitment to creating bold, high-calibre original stories for Australian audiences. Partnering with Channel 4, The Garden and ITV Studios Australia has allowed us to bring this extraordinary concept to life on an unprecedented scale. From the ambition of the production to the immersive world we’ve created, APOCALYPSE is unlike anything we’ve commissioned before. We can’t wait for audiences to experience this powerful combination of social experiment and reality series, discover what happens when ordinary people are pushed beyond their limits, and ask themselves What would I do?.”
Apocalypse is produced by The Garden (part of ITV Studios), the creatives behind global hits such as “Squid Game: The Challenge” (a co-production with Studio Lambert), and ITV Studios Australia (“Alone Australia”) for Channel 4 and Foxtel Group. Executive producers include Jo Harcourt-Smith and Tim Whitwell (The Garden); Keely Sonntag (ITV Studios Australia) and Howard Myers-Rifai (Foxtel Group). ITV Studios will handle international distribution.
