Joe Leaves MasterChef as Queensland Week comes to a close

As Queensland Week came to an end on MasterChef Australia , Perth’s Joe Ahern has been eliminated from the competition after struggling to prepare his seafood platter.

Arriving on the Gold Coast at the beautiful Burleigh Heads, Joe competed against Ben, Steph, Nicole, Tessa, Simon and Christina in a seafood skills test, tasked with peeling and deveining prawns, filleting snapper and removing the tails from Moreton Bay Bugs.

After failing to accurately prepare his seafood, Joe found himself in round two with Ben, Nicole and Simon. Next they were tasked with preparing a seafood platter which needed to include the seafood from round one and also a steamed, raw and fried element.

The digital production assistant came undone cooking the snapper for his classic pub style platter and battled to compete against the vibrant, colourful Japanese, Mexican and Southeast Asian flavours of the trio against him.

The judges agreed Joe had failed to think on his feet during the cook, and as one thing went wrong, everything started to slide.

Since leaving the MasterChef kitchen, Joe has completed work experience at Post in Perth. He is also planning a culinary tour of Italy
