Jodi Anasta Joins The Cast Of Neighbours.

Yet another Summer Bay resident  is heading to Erinsborough with  TV Week Logie Award winning actress and model Jodi Anasta is joining the cast of Neighbours.

After carving out a successful international modelling career, Jodi returned to Australia to take up the role of Martha Mackenzie inHome and Away from 2005 to 2010. Her portrayal of Martha earned her a TV Week Logie for Most Popular New Talent.

Jodi will reprise the role of Elly Conway, the feisty and unpredictable niece of one of the nightly soap’s most revered characters, Susan Kennedy (Jackie Woodburne),Who  was last seen on screen as a teenager 14 years ago and was originally played by Kendell Nunn.

Elly returns to Erinsborough to take up a teaching position at the local high school, a role which starkly contrasts with her reckless lifestyle away from the class room.

Network Ten Drama Executive, Claire Tonkin, said: “Neighbours has a proud tradition of fascinating troublemakers and we suspect Elly will be up with the best of them. So what a joy to welcome Jodi to the show to bring this character to life. Let the fun and games begin.”

Neighbours Executive Producer, Jason Herbison, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Jodi to the Neighbours family. I can’t think of a better actress to reinvent the role of Elly Conway, now a grown woman and after a few eventful years living interstate, she crashes back down to earth in Erinsborough. Her Aunt Susan and Uncle Karl won’t know what has hit them.”

Jodi said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be coming on as regular cast member of Neighbours and I love my character Elly. She is everything I would want to play – she is fun, feisty, hot-headed, intelligent but also a bit misguided.  There are so many layers I can explore as an actress and I also get to live out a childhood dream by playing an English teacher.”

Jodi started filming this week and will debut on screen in July.

Neighbours airs 6:30 pm weeknights on Eleven
