Another face from the past returns to the street tonight.
Tonight Neighbours continues to bring back past residents in order to say farewell to the beloved Sonya (Eve Morey).
Last week we saw Sonya’s son Callum (Morgan Baker) make a surprise return to support his mother during her cancer, and tonight it’s Sonya’s sister Jade Mitchell (Gemma Pranita) who’s back in Erinsborough.
Jade was last seen on Ramsay Street in October 2012 before she moved to the States for work. Back then, she was in a relationship with Kyle Canning (Chris Milligan), before they parted ways when she moved. Over the years we’ve been given little snippets of what Jade has been up to, but this is the first time seeing her back on screen.
Learning of Sonya’s diagnosis, she returns from San Francisco to spend time with her family. As the sister’s reconnect, Sonya begins to feel the weight of the secret she’s been hiding.
Confiding in Shane (Nicholas Coghlan), Sonya reveals a remark made by Andrea (Madeleine West) back when she visited her in order to get full custody of Hugo (John Turner). It’s a secret that will have lasting effects on everyone, and you’ll have tune in to find out what it is.
Having Jade back for Sonya’s cancer and farewell storyline is such a nice touch. Gemma and Eve work so well together, even after all these years apart.
