Ian Thorpe and Leisel Jones join Seven for Swimming Championships

Channel Seven has announced five-time Olympic gold medallist, Ian Thorpe and three-time gold medal winner Leisel Jones will be part of the commentary team for the World Swimming Championships in Budapest, Hungary this month.

Thorpe is Australia’s greatest Olympian, having won the most gold medals of any Aussie athlete. At age 15, he became the youngest male world champion when he won gold in the 400-metre freestyle at the World Championships – an event he went on to win 10 more gold medals at, the third highest of any swimmer.

Leisel Jones is regarded as one of Australia’s greatest breaststrokers. Jones boasts a successful swimming career as the first Australian swimmer to compete at four Summer Olympic games where she has won a total of nine medals.

Seven will broadcast The World Swimming Championships live and exclusive on 7TWO and PLUS7 from July 23 when the country’s top swimmers line up behind the blocks and strive for gold against competitors from around the globe.
