House Rules sets a Bestie Battle for Grand Final

House Rules finale here we come after a tearjerking  renovation for charity

SA’s Kate and Harry were the first team through to the Grand Final after receiving a perfect score of 30/30 with the help of their bonus point, awarded for winning the statement piece.

Harry said: “It is an unbelievable feeling to be in the Grand Final. It makes being away from our boy worth it. We’ll be leaving no stone unturned to bring home the win,” Kate added: “We can’t believe on top of our beautifully renovated home, we now have a one in two chance of winning $200,000. It doesn’t get much better than that!”

The couple had the daunting task of following the eccentric house rules of judge Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, which instructed them to include “taxidermy” and “neoclassical style.” The couple’s risky decision to mount a peacock head above the master bed paid off, with Laurence calling it “frighteningly fabulous.”

QLD’s Aaron and Daniella scored an eight across the board after successfully implementing judge Wendy Moore’s “art deco” house rule. Their indigo and gold feature wall in the loungeroom blew away the judges, while their “luxy” bathroom couldn’t be faulted.

On reaching this stage of the competition, Aaron said: “We have worked so hard to get to the Grand Final, now it just seems amazing to have a chance at winning the $200,000. What an experience, it has changed our lives in so many ways.” Daniella added: “We are so grateful to have a fully renovated home and to now be in the Grand Final, it’s an incredible feeling.”

WA’s ‘geek twins’ Andrew and Jono were knocked out of the competition after delivering a “soulless” loungeroom which failed to impress the judges. However, it didn’t dampen their spirits: “We are really proud of what we have achieved, we’ve come a long way since the beginning,” said Andrew.

The Grand Finalists will face one last challenge before the judges’ final verdict decides the winner.

The HOUSE RULES Grand Final airs Sunday July 9 at 7:00pm on Seven
