this week teams went all out to spoil Mikaela & Eliza’s mum creating a truly coastal inspired retreat but who hit the mark and who fell short.

Jamie (on the dressing room) It has tons and tons of storage.
LLB (on the wave inspired feature wall) I’m blown away by how romantic this feels.
Wendy (on the pebbles under the bed) One vacuum and that’s just an empty hole!

SHAYN & CARLY (QLD) Kitchen and Eliza’s room
Jamie Hats off to them for giving us greenery in the kitchen and I love having fresh herbs.
LLB (on Eliza’s room) It’s about evoking a tropical experience, but they’ve not actually done anything tropical in here at all, which I think is quite clever.
Wendy (on) Eliza’s room) They’ve got a little issue with scale – everything in this room is so big, the room is not big enough to handle a swinging chair.

PETE & COURTNEY (VIC) Lounge, ensuite and hallway
Jamie (on the lounge room) It’s a wave of beige which needs an injection of colour.
LLB It’s almost like they’ve woken up from a long sleep and found they’ve actually got design balls, real cahonas for design!
Wendy I love the fireplace. The fact that they have created a false mantle is amazing.

KATIE & ALEX (NSW) Dining Room, Study, and Walk-in-robe
Jamie I love the fact that they’ve chosen a recycled timber slated table because this is sustainable architecture.
LLB (on the dining room) This is absolutely all of those House Rules in one beautifully stylish statement.
Wendy (on the driftwood sculpture above the dining room) It feels like there’s something dead up there that shouldn’t be dead.

Jamie (on the floating limestone shelf) An engineering triumph!
LLB (on the picture gallery) It’s not OK. It’s just pictures from the internet. I think it’s appalling!
Wendy (on the bathroom tiles) I really love this floor. They’re really unexpected but very clever and practical.

Sisters Mikaela & Eliza returned with mum Kristen for an emotional tour of their renovated family home. Kristen was blown away by the standard of her new light-filled kitchen. “This is the heart of our home, I wouldn’t change a thing,” she said through tears

Victorian brothers Tim & Mat finished on top of the leader board after the judges’ and homeowners’ scores BUT were pipped at the post when Shayn & Carly received their five bonus points from the early reveal challenge. And for the first time in House Rules history, two teams will be hitting the tent this week – Lisa & Andy who finished last with 26 points and Mikaela & Eliza who skipped their turn while their house was being renovated.
