It’s that time of year again where we take an in-depth look at our Gold Logie Nominees. First up is last year’s winner Scott Cam.
Scott Cam first appeared on TV screens in 2000 as the builder for Backyard Blitz. The show won Most Popular Lifestyle Program from 2002 – 2006 and he stayed with the show until the series ended in 2008. He also hosted his own Friday night lifestyle program Our Place but it was axed after a few episodes in early 2005.
In 2008 he started an on-air partnership with Shelly Craft when they teamed up to renovate homes for deserving people on Domestic Blitz The show ended its regular run in 2010 but has since had a couple of one-off specials, in 2012 and 2013, with those years’ Block contestants helping out.
From 2010 Cam has hosted Nine’s reality program The Block. The show sees four couples take on planning and construction of a rundown site into four homes or apartments – depending on the brief given to them. Since it returned in 2010, the show has won Most Popular Reality program three years in a row since 2011.The show lost out in 2014 to My Kitchen Rules. In 2014 Cam picked up his first Most Popular Presenter Logie for his work on The Block.
This year Scott Cam has again returned for another two seasons of The Block and been announced as host for Nine’s new reality series Renovation Rumble.
Despite missing out on a Popular Presenter nomination this year, Scott Cam has a shot at making it back-to-back Gold Logie wins on Sunday. Will he succeed? Well, that remains to be determined.
