The Crew, a 10-part documentary following three ordinary guys from the suburbs of Sydney on a journey to achieve three extraordinary goals, is coming to GO! from next week .
Based around the making of the double ACTAA award-winning film Fighting Fear, the series tracks Mark Matthews, Kid Mac and Richie Vasas they put their troubled past behind them, aim high and work together to achieve their dreams.
Mark Matthews has conquered fears in and out of the water to establish himself as one of the world’s most recognised big wave surfers. After overcoming a neck injury that threatened his career and his life, Matthews tackles another obstacle head on – a fear of public speaking – in the hope of becoming a motivational speaker.
When his dreams of playing professional soccer were cut short, Kid Mac shifted his focus to making it as a successful touring artist. He faces the challenge of juggling a rising music career while completing his second feature film, Fighting Fear, a documentary about his two best mates – who happen to be Matthews and Vas.
Breaking free from the shackles of a troubled past, Richie “Vas” Vaculik has changed his ways and channelled his energy into becoming a successful mixed martial arts fighter. After winning his first bout by knockout in round one, his eyes are set on competing in the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship).
Throughout the series the guys are given a helping hand from 11-time world surfing champion Kelly Slater, rapper Snoop Dogg and Anthony Keidis, front man of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
The Crew tracks the inspiring journey of Matthews, Macca and Vas as they keep each other motivated to achieve their lofty goals, and have some fun along the way.
The Crew will air 6:30 Monday – Thursday on GO
