Today 10 and Paramount+ releases its newest Aussie original with Ghosts Australia.
When the series begins, inner-city couple Kate (Tamala) and Sean (Rowan Witt) are looking for a new place when Kate inherits Ramshead Manor, a sprawling but decaying country estate. Kate sees the opportunity for a country change and creating a boutique hotel. But Sean just wants to sell the property and move back to the city.
Unbeknown to Kate and Sean, they’ve also inherited a few extras along with the manor – six neurotic ghosts who inhabit the property they died on. There’s the pompous colonialist Gideon (Brent Hill), tough Irish publican Eileen (Mandy McElhinney), forgetful Chinese gold miner Joon (George Zhao), toxically positive aerobics instructor Lindy (Michelle Brasier), repressed heiress Miranda (Ines English), and the secretly sensitive bikie Satan (Jackson Tozer). And they’ve all been living together for years.
Through all their differences, the ghosts have the common goal to get rid of the breathers from their peaceful existence. But when Kate has a near-death experience which results in being able to see the ghosts, things get even more complicated for the living and the dead.
Written by Josh Mapleston and Libby Butler, and based on the iconic British comedy, the double episode premiere sets up a laugh-out-loud season, where the ghosts are the comedic highlight.
Ghosts has a distinct Aussie flavour and is off to a solid start with quite a few laughs.
