GEM to air  Special Olympics Opening Ceremony

GEM will showcase a spectacular night of entertainment at the Opening Ceremony of the Special Olympics 2013 Asia Pacific Games this weekend.

With John Foremanas Creative Director, the broadcast will feature a smorgasbord of music, dance, theatre, lights and fireworks to mark the beginning of the Games.

The exciting event, filled with uplifting entertainment, will be compered by special guests John Blackman and Peter Overton, live from Hunter Stadium in Newcastle.

Popular Australian entertainers will perform throughout the night including Human Nature, Anthony Callea, Marina Prior and Darren Percival.

They will be joined by Marcia Hines,Tim Campbell, The McClymonts and many more, including The Other Supermanf rom Australia’s Got Talent, who will impress viewers with an incredible aerial performance.

The first ever Special Olympics 2013 Asia Pacific Games for athletes with an intellectual disability will take place from November 30 to December 7 with 2500 athletes from 30 nations competing.

The Special Olympics Opening Ceremony will air  on Sunday at 8.40pm on Gem.
