Next month Foxtel Arts returns one of it’s most interesting shows The Artist’s Den, for a 5th season.
The very best contemporary artists in the world perform at the Artist’s Den, an intimate room in front a small, music-adoring audience. We kick off the series with season 5 and guests include Norah Jones and The Wallflowers.
EPISODE 1: Norah Jones Saturday, January 2
In front of 200 invited guests, Brooklyn resident Norah Jones performed a stunning career-spanning set at the historic Green Building in Brooklyn’s Carroll Gardens neighbourhood. The rough-hewn beauty of the former brass foundry was a spectacular backdrop the 20-song retrospective, ranging from her breakthrough hit, “Don’t Know Why,” to her latest single, “Happy Pills,” before concluding with an encore that saw her and her band gathered around an old-time microphone, offering sweet harmonies to send a delighted audience into the night.
EPISODE 2: The Wallflowers Saturday, January 9
It’s been seven years since their last album, but the Wallflowers were back in full force during their performance at Bimbo’s 365 Club, a Bay Area institution for more than 80 years. Surrounded by the club’s Art Deco glamour and 600 invited guests, front man Jakob Dylan led the Wallflowers through a riveting 18-song set, featuring new songs from their forthcoming album on Columbia Records and classics such as “One Headlight” and “6th Avenue Heartache.”The Artist’s Den airs Saturdays at 9.30pm from January 2 on Foxtel Arts
