Foxtel Arts To air Screen Actors Guild Awards

Foxtel Arts will broadcast the 24th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards LIVE next Monday.

The 24th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards is  one of the awards season’s premiere events, the SAG Awards  annually celebrates the outstanding motion pictures and television performances from the previous calendar year.

Kristen Bell (The Good PlaceFrozen) will host the 24th Annual Screen Actors Guild Award, the first time the Awards have had a host, breaking a long-standing custom by inviting the multi-faceted actor to fill this prestigious role.

Halle Berry, Dakota Fanning, Lupita Nyong’o, Emma Stone and Kelly Marie Tran have been announced as presenters at the 24th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards®, as well as cast nominated in the category ‘Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture’ including  Mary J. Blige, Jason Clarke, Woody Harrelson, Holly Hunter, Daniel Kaluuya, Zoe Kazan, Frances McDormand, Laurie Metcalf, Kumail Nanjiani, Sam Rockwell, Ray Romano, Saoirse Ronan and Allison Williams.

The SAG Awards, this year will honour Academy Award winning actor Morgan Freeman with a lifetime achievement award. Morgan Freeman is one of the most recognizable figures in American cinema. His works are among the most critically and commercially successful films of all time. 

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri leads the film category nominations while HBO’s Big Little Lies,telecast on Foxtel’s showcase and on demand, leads the television category.

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri nominations include ‘Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture’ which includes Australian actresses Abbie Cornish and Samara Weaving, ‘Outstanding Performance by Female Actor in a Leading Role’ for Frances McDormand and ‘Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role’ for Woody Harrelson and Sam Rockwell. 

Lady Bird follows with three nominations for ‘Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture’, ‘Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role’ for Saoirse Ronan and ‘Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role’ for Laurie Metcalf.

In the television field, Big Little Lies has scooped four nominations with three of the series’ actresses Laura Dern, Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon contenders for ‘Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series’ and leading man Alexander Skarsgard receiving a nomination for ‘Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series’.

Another Foxtel blockbuster in the television drama category is HBO’s Game of Thrones with three nominations including ‘Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series’
