One of Nine’s big new shows Forever has been locked in for Wednesdays with a few days of promotion.
This other-worldly crime drama follows Dr Henry Morgan, a star New York City medical examiner with a particularly keen interest in studying the dead – because Henry himself is immortal. He can never die.
Having not aged for 200 years, he has managed to discreetly move around without anyone learning his secret, except for friend and confidant Abe
But keeping his immortality hidden becomes increasingly difficult when he meets NYPD detective Jo Martinez.Recently widowed, Jo is fascinated by Henry after discovering he was the sole survivor of a horrific train crash, and his knowledge proves extremely helpful to her in solving crimes.
Living through two centuries lends an expert eye to Henry’s professional work, but it also raises many compelling personal questions. Will Henry discover why he can never die? If he learns the secret, will he reverse it? And, as a mysterious caller in episode one seems to be suggesting, are there others out there like him?
As this intriguing series moves through the past and present, the layers of Henry’s long and colourful life begin to peel away, revealing what it’s really like to live forever.
Forever premieres with a double episode 8:40 PM Wednesday on Nine.
