Five becomes Four as Master Chef finale approaches

Queensland’s Nicole Scott has been eliminated from MasterChef Australia, narrowly missing out on a place in the Semi Final after her chocolate parfait failed to set.

After surviving 12 weeks of competition, Nicole has fallen just days out from the Grand Finale, which will air this Tuesday.

Nicole found herself in the elimination alongside Tim, Tessa and Simon after the group failed to take top honours in last week’s service challenge at the Press Club.

Tasked with cooking with an Asian pantry against Tessa in the first culinary duel, Nicole’s salmon was overcooked, sending her into the second round alongside Tim.

The pair had to cook with the remaining sweet pantry during a 60-minute cook, with Nicole opting to prepare a passionfruit sorbet and chocolate parfait.

George Calombaris described Nicole’s mousse and passionfruit as being light and her tuille as fantastic. It was an incredible effort that has been let down by her parfait, which failed to set and was forced to become a mousse, which Gary Mehigan said was raw and didn’t work with the dish.

Nicole’s elimination saved Tim, and he’ll now join Larissa, Tessa and Simon in tomorrow’s Semi Final where they’ll battle for a place in Tuesday’s Grand Finale.

Since leaving the MasterChef kitchen, Nicole has completed work experience alongside Shannon Kellam at Montrachet. She is also preparing to launch her website featuring cooking tutorials.
