On Friday, Neighbours confirmed that one of its favourites was due to take their final breath.
In a regular check-up with Clive (Geoff Paine), it was confirmed that Fay Brennan (Zoe Bertram) had developed pneumonia as a result of swallowing some chocolate earlier in the week. And although she was given a week to live, when we last saw her, she was coughing up blood.
When we pick up on Monday, Sheila (Colette Mann) picks up that Fay’s condition has deteriorated rapidly, convincing her to call David (Takaya Honda). After checking on Fay, David immediately realises just how sick she is and it appears she only has mere hours to live.
Chloe (April Rose Pengilly) and Aaron (Matt Wilson) gather round for their final goodbyes, and these scenes certainly aren’t’ for the faint of heart.
While I won’t spoil any of the magical surprises the writers have in store for this episode, this episode certainly packs an emotional punch and serves as a reminder of just how fragile life is. Writer Shane Ishneev balances a devastating event with some heart.
All actors involved give a truly exceptional performance, so brace yourself to cry and have the tissues and chocolate on hand for this near-perfect farewell.
