Tonight’s the night that everyone has been dreading as a long-standing neighbour leaves the hood.
When the episode begins, it’s clear that there will be tears as Toadie (Ryan Moloney) prepare to farewell his home of almost 30 years.
Karl (Alan Fletcher) and Susan (Jackie Woodbourne) throw a special farewell party before Toadie and his kids Nell (Ayisha Salem-Towner) and Hugo (Tanner Ellis-Anderson) head out of Erinsborough and off to Colac for a fresh start. After 29 years in Ramsay Street, there are a lot of memories, both good and bad, including two dead wives, losing his iconic mullet, the birth of his two children, being shot, becoming a lawyer, flying away in a bouncy castle, lots of wrestling, the return of a dead wife and her evil twin, the breakdown of marriages, and culminating in a look at men’s mental health.
One person defiantly against seeing Toad off is fresh ex-wive Terese (Rebekah Elmaloglou), who’s still hurting following their split a few weeks ago after a tumultuous year of marriage.
Will some sage advice from Paul (Stefan Dennis) change her mind?
Penned by Elizabeth Packett, who created the character all those years ago, the episode celebrates the legend that Toadie has become throughout his tenure.
It’s the end of an era and fans won’t want to miss saying a final farewell to this iconic character. While it’s sad to see the Rebecchi clan leave, it’s a comfort knowing there’s potential for these characters to pop back down the track.
Neighbours airs Monday-Thursday at 4:00pm on 10, with episodes repeated at 6:30pm on 10Peach Comedy.
