Following its record-breaking debut on Paramount+, the gripping multi–AACTA Award nominated Australian drama Fake is set to captivate free-to-air audiences in a fortnight.
Inspired by journalist Stephanie Wood’s bestselling memoir, Fake delves into the unsettling world of romance scams, exploring themes of love, deception, and self-discovery. The eight-part series stars Gold Logie Award-winner Asher Keddie (Offspring, Love My Way) as Birdie Bell, a successful magazine writer who becomes entangled in a complex relationship with the enigmatic Joe Burt, portrayed by acclaimed actor David Wenham (The Lord of the Rings, Top of the Lake).
Convinced by her well-meaning friends and family that this could be her very own happily ever after, Birdie begins to believe that it is finally her chance to live the fairytale. As cracks start to form in Joe’s stories, Birdie soon discovers her boyfriend isn’t all he has led her to believe.
Upon its initial release, Fake became the biggest first-week launch of a local drama series since Paramount+ arrived in Australia, cementing its place as one of the most compelling and talked-about Australian series of 2024.
