ESPN presents week long UFC action ahead of UFC 259

ESPN has Australian and New Zealand fight fans covered with a bumper fight week schedule ahead of UFC 259 on Sunday.

UFC 259 sees three UFC championships go on the line, with Sunday’s event headlined by a UFC Light Heavyweight title fight between champion Jan Blachowicz and New Zealand’s UFC Middleweight champion Israel Adesanya.

Adesanya looks to follow in the footsteps of Conor McGregor, Amanda Nunes and Henry Cejudo as UFC champions to have held dual championships in the promotion, in his first foray into the light-heavyweight division.

Australia also has representation in the co-main event as Megan Anderson looks to take down UFC Featherweight champion and future hall of famer, Amanda Nunes.

Completing the trilogy of championship fights at UFC 259 is UFC Bantamweight champion Petr Yanwho defends his crown against the number one contender Aljamain Sterling.

ESPN has all the lead up to UFC 259, with a bumper week of programming.

ESPN Australia and New Zealand will have live coverage from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, beginning at 10am AEDT on Sunday March 7.

Former UFC Featherweight champion Dominick Cruz headlines a strong UFC 259: Prelim card, beginning at 12pm AEDT, where he is joined by multiple time title challenger Joseph Benavidez and New Zealand’s flyweight contender Kai Kara-France, as feature bouts on the UFC 259: Blachowicz vs Adesanya Prelims.

ESPN SportsCenter host Phil Murphy also sits down with Megan Anderson for a special edition of SC: UFC Fight Camp, which premieres on Thursday March 4 at 7pm, AEDT on ESPN.

In the exclusive special, Anderson looks back on her long journey to the UFC, and discusses the challenges she has faced in her career, as well as the mission to dethrone the UFC queen, Amanda Nunes at UFC 259.

Phil Murphy will also be reporting on all the latest news out of Las Vegas during fight week, as part of SC: UFC Fight Camp, which will be complemented by ESPN’s extensive UFC schedule.

UFC fans can look back on Israel Adesanya’s previous trips to the Octagon to face Anderson Silva, Kelvin Gastelum, Yoel Romero and most recently at UFC 253 against Paulo Costa.

UFC Countdown: Blachowicz vs Adesanya and UFC Live will also help set the stage for a massive UFC 259 showdown.
