Recently added to Prime Video’s long list of originals was action-drama Countdown.
Countdown begins with a Homeland Security agent getting killed in broad daylight, sparking FBI Special Agent Nathan Blythe (Eric Dane) to create a broad-reaching task force to find the murderer. This includes members of various law enforcement agencies, including LAPD Detective Mark Meachum (Jensen Ackles), undercover DEA Agent Amber Oliveras (Jessica Camacho), LAPD Narcotics Officer Luke Finau (Uli Latukefu), FBI terrorism expert Keyonte Bell (Elliot Knight), and FBI cyber sleuth Evan Shepherd (Violett Beane).
As the investigation begins, there are twists, turns and red herrings galore that may put the rest of humanity at stake.
Showrunner Derek Haas, who has experience with crime procedurals thanks to his work on Chicago Fire and PD, lets the case take centre-stage, with characters fleshed out as the season progresses.
Dane and Ackles lead the cast who are all given their moments to shine throughout the series.
