Dancer, choreographer and producer Bonnie Lythgoe was voted by the Australian public to leave the African jungle last bight.
Stripped of life’s luxuries, Bonnie took to camp life with courage and grace, armed only with a Versace pillow.
Since her skydiving arrival three weeks ago, Bonnie went on to become one of the most treasured members in camp. Her warm and eccentric nature prompted Anthony Callea and Shane Warne to dub the English rose “Bonnie Bonkers”. She also became renowned for her deft hand at picking up other’s belongings.
During her time in camp, Bonnie had heartfelt and personal conversations with the other camp mates that included her insights on love, marriage and divorce. She also showed her caring side when discussing gay marriage with Anthony and her cheeky nature when she convinced Shane to imitate a penguin.
Bonnie did not always entered trials with confidence, but once she got there, she always gave it her best. As one of the Team Captains in the epic challenge, Celeb Tug Of War, Bonnie showed real leadership when she picked up the spirits of her team after their four one loss.
After the trial had concluded, Bonnie said: “The main thing is, nobody said no. Everybody went for it and for me, that is a great team effort.” At one stage, Bonnie found herself in a phone booth filled with 500,000 flies, when competing alongside camp mates Jo Beth Taylor and Val Lehman. Together these ladies of stage and screen won seven meals for the camp.
Bonnie also successfully took part in the season’s first Chest Challenge, where she teamed with Akmal Saleh to sift through elephant dung in order to solve a puzzle. The pair won some much-desired chocolate for the celebrities.
A generous, fun and thoughtful camp mate, the other celebrities were shocked to see Bonnie depart.
