Wait a second that’s not right……………..
Reigan Derry has been knocked out of The X Factor in the final round of eliminations before the Grand Final.
Pitted against teenage sensation Marlisa Punzalan, Redfoo’s last hope couldn’t secure the votes needed to remain in the competition.
It was a night of high emotion as each judge stood with their single remaining act. Dannii Minogue with Brothers 3 was first through to the Grand Final, followed by Natalie Bassingthwaighte with Dean Ray.
Singing for her life, Reigan took to the stage first, performing Jeff Buckley’s haunting track Hallelujah: “It’s a song that I’ve poured my heart into for many years now,” she said. Marlisa was next, taking on Help by The Beatles and hoping the iconic track would showcase her vocal ability.
Dannii said it was a tough decision: “Two incredible voices in this competition, two incredible women in this competition,” she said. Ronan agreed, adding it had been the best season he’d seen. “I’m proud to be part of both of these performances… Marlisa, you’re incredible, I hope you get the chance.”
Redfoo said Marlisa had grown before the show and he was proud of her. He said Reigan’s performance tonight was the best he’d ever seen from his protégé: “It was like a dream performance, everything you’ve learnt, everything was displayed in that song there, it was incredible.” Natalie said she felt Reigan was a professional who performed with emotion and heart each week: “You have a voice which is extraordinary.”
With Redfoo and Natalie voting to save Reigan, and Ronan and Dannii voting to save Marlisa, the decision was deadlocked and left in the hands of the audience who had voted at home, and Reigan was sent packing.
Also hitting the stage tonight, Ronan Keating’s Boyzone opened the show with our contestants, performing two songs from their new album, From Dublin To Detroit. Sydney superstars 5 Seconds of Summer also performed Amnesia and Good Girls, plus The Script played their chart hit Superheroes.
This Sunday, Marlisa, Dean and Brothers 3 will take to the stage for the final time before one is crowned the 2014 The X Factor winner.
The X Factor Grand Final is going to be huge with live performances by Taylor Swift, Olly Murs, Jessica Mauboy and Guy Sebastian.
The X Factor finale airs 8 PM Sunday on Seven with the results reveealled 7 :30 PM M
