some tragic news out of the X Factor audition in Sydney on Friday with a man collapsing and later passing away.
The 33-year-old unidentified man, who was said to be a New Zealander, was rehearsing his song alone in a quiet alcove when he collapsed suddenly on Friday afternoon.
He was treated by medical personnel at the scene before being transferred by ambulance to nearby St Vincent’s Hospital, where he died a short time later from a suspected heart issue.
Steven Murphy, a spokesman for FremantleMedia, the production company behind The X Factor, described the incident as tragic.
“He collapsed late yesterday (Friday) and was treated by medics on site before being transferred by ambulance to St Vincent’s Hospital,”
A post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted by the coroner later this week.
On the day of the incident, auditioning singers performed only for the show’s producers before being shortlisted for the filmed audition rounds in front of judges.
