Amir Is Beet-en By The Competition.

Following yesterday’s team challenge in Apollo Bay, the contestants headed inland to Daylesford to Dairy Flat Farm, owned by MasterChef Australia favourite Alla Wolf-Tasker.

Sabina, Minoli, Linda and Amir were facing elimination and Mel explained that the challenge was to cook a vegetarian dish using ingredients picked straight from Alla’s garden.

Sabina felt happy with her carrot salad and the judges were blown away by her simple, yet sophisticated dish. Alla said she’d love to have Sabina in her kitchen.

Linda was nervous that her South East Asian inspired tomato broth with tomato salsa might not hit the mark, but the judges were impressed by her ability to utilise Alla’s European garden in an inventive way.

The judges loved the flavours Minoli used in her salt baked beetroot with roast potato, and were wowed by the play on textures in her dish.

Amir was happy with the concept of his dish but knew it would all come down to the cook on the beetroot. The judges liked the flavours of the dish, but the beetroot was burnt on the edges and it was this mistake that saw Amir the thirteenth contestant eliminated from MasterChef Australia.
