Amazon Stand Up Special – Zoe Coombs Marr: Bossy Bottom Review

Amazon Stand Up Special – Zoe Coombs Marr: Bossy Bottom Review

Amazon Prime begins a series of stand-up specials this week, beginning with Zoe Coombs Marr: Bossy Bottom.

Bossy Bottom sees Coombs Marr returning to the stage as herself after taking the world by storm as Dave, a character that was loved the world over. Dropping the disguise, Zoe is promising just an hour of jokes, and without giving away any of the good stuff away, she’s lying.

The show starts with a fisting joke, but what transpires over the 65-minute special is the Helpmann-winning comedian tackle why she became Dave, simple family anecdotes, and why she has chosen to return to the stage. It’s way more than “just an hour of jokes” – it’s a smartly constructed piece that is hard to fault and write about.

Coombs Marr has such a presence in her delivery of her material that even the jokes her parents suggested she use come across as funny.

This special won’t disappoint and there’s a reason why Zoe’s special should be towards the top of your Easter long-weekend viewing. It’s unapologetically smart and funny, and something so much more than it appears.
