Dancers Jive, dancers thrive, dancer barely survives

Tonight on Dancing With The Stars the second batch of celebs to took to the floor, with actress Virginia Gay topping the leaderboard with 32 points. Her theatrical Paso Doble blew the judges away and earnt her the highest score of the competition so far.

Unfortunately, the spectacular lift Charlie Albone spent weeks preparing went horribly wrong in his Jive, as he almost dropped his partner Ruby. Unphased by the judge’s harsh feedback, Charlie bounced back to receive a total of eight points.

Christie Whelan Browne scored a 30 for her first performance, with Sharna exclaiming it was “everything a Viennese Waltz should be.”

Phil Burton proved he has both boyband and ballroom moves, receiving a total of 29 for his Viennese Waltz.

Rising to the dancing challenge was Olympic hurdler Sally Pearson, whose track training came in handy for her leaping Quickstep, earning her 27 points from the judges.

Showing no mercy, actor Pia Miranda debuted a cheeky Cha Cha, scoring a total of 23. Judge Sharna Burgess exclaimed Pia and her partner have both “chemistry and camaraderie on the dancefloor.”

KIIS radio host and podcaster Laura Byrne couldn’t contain her enthusiasm in her Jive, ultimately forgetting some of her steps. Judge Todd McKenney described Laura’s dance as “frantic,” while Craig Revel Horwood said she was like a “praying mantis on acid”.
