Stephanie Stevens’ was pregnant when husband Ryan tragically lost his life in an accident three years ago. While mourning the loss of Ryan, Stephanie was also battling the bank over the couple’s mortgage.
Like most Australians, Ryan did not have a valid will, so the task of dealing with his estate fell to the state government. Following a series of cruel and compassionless events by the bank, Stephanie was unable to keep the family home which she and Ryan had worked so hard to build, against her best wishes.
Despite Bankwest admitting it had let Stephanie down – she was forced to move on.
In a desperate bid to put a house over her and son Ollie’s head she bought a lemon, rundown and riddled with asbestos, which Stephanie and her father had been working hard on just to get it in a livable state.
After an outpouring of community support following Stephanie’s story going to air in January, A Current Affair stepped in with the team from The Block to help give the young mother a surprise of a lifetime – a stunning renovation of epic proportions built with love.
Elise & Matt, Perth locals from the current season of The Block, along with past favourites Ronnie & Georgia and host Scott Cam all pitch in to completely overhaul Stephanie’s house of horrors into an incredible home in just 14 days.
