ESPN will deliver hoops fans every game of the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup from Germany from September 4 AEST to September 13 AEST.
Every match from the tournament will be available on ESPN on Disney+, with a selection of marquee matches, including every Australian Opals, United States and 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup Finals games available also on ESPN via Kayo, Foxtel, Fetch TV and Sky NZ.
The Australian Opals 2026 Women’s World Cup tournament begins live on Friday August 4, with all three of Australia’s pool matches in the fan-friendly prime time tip-off at 7pm AEST.
First up, the Opals begin the FIBA World Cup campaign on Friday August 4 against Puerto Rico.
Australia will then face challenging European hopefuls Turkiye on Sunday August 6, before wrapping up the pool games, in what is anticipated to be their most difficult group opponent, Belgium, on Monday August 7 at 7pm AEST.
ESPN will provide comprehensive coverage of the Australian Opals throughout the tournament, led by ESPN host Kane Pitman, Australian Opals representatives Bec Allen, Alice Kunek and Anneli Mailey and former Australian Boomers star Ryan Broekhoff.
The Australian Opals 2026 World Cup squad contains six members of the side that secured a bronze medal at the 2024 Olympic Games.
The Opals have a high bar to chase in Berlin, having secured silver at the 2018 World Cup in Spain and bronze at home in 2022.
Australia’s 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup team includes – Zitina Aokuso, Chloe Bibby, Isobel Borlase, Isabelle Bourne, Alex Fowler, Ezi Magbegor, Jade Melbourne, Steph Reid, Alanna Smith, Steph Talbot, Miela Sowah and Alex Wilson.
The United States will start as tournament favourites, having won five straight gold medals.
Team USA will once again bring a star studded roster to the tournament containing WNBA stars Caitlin Clark, Paige Bueckers, Angel Reese, Kahleah Cooper, Kelsey Plum, A’ja Wilson among others.
Other tournament contenders include European heavyweights Belgium, France and host nation Germany, whilst Asian hopefuls China and Japan will look to secure a deep run in the World Cup.
