Channel Nine will broadcast the fifth annual Gold Telethon in aid of the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation LIVE next Monday, June 9, from 9.00am to 4.15pm.
Hosted by Karl Stefanovic, Lisa Wilkinson, Richard Wilkins, Sonia Kruger, David Campbell, Tracy Grimshaw and Ken Sutcliffe, with live crosses to the Sydney Children’s Hospital.
Last year’s telethon raised $4.02 million for the hospital, thanks to the generosity of the community and the major partners. The money went towards numerous services and equipment, including construction of a new Clinical Services Wing, the purchase of a simulation baby for training medical staff, and a new “smart theatre” fitted out with the latest technology.
This year the telethon target is $4.5 million to support essential equipment, services and research at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick
Some of Australia’s top artists will perform live on the telethon, including the chart-topping Justice Crew and The Wiggles. There will be a reunion performance by the 1980s band The Cockroaches, Sheppard will sing their hit Geronimo, and Marcia Hines and Darren Percival will also perform.
A host of familiar faces, including Channel Nine stars and sports stars, will support the appeal by taking donations on the phone: The Footy Show’s Erin Molan and The Big Marn; The Block contestants Michael Jones, Neisha and John Pitt; House Husbands star Rhys Muldoon; Love Child stars Sophie Hensser, Gracie Gilbert and Ella Scott-Lynch; Fat Tony’s Robert Mammone and Jake Ryan; the single ladies from When Love Comes to Town; Olympians Libby Trickett, Melinda Gainsford-Taylor and Jeremy Rolleston; as well as Getaway’s Jesinta Campbell.
