Seven is set to broadcast the fresh take on track and field, Nitro Athletics this weekend
The event will see teams from Australia, New Zealand, England, China and Japan compete against world renowned athletes in Usain Bolt’s All Stars team – a team of athletes handpicked by Bolt himself.
The showcase event features new rules such as the Nitro Power Play and Nitro Turbo Charge, allowing teams to double their points and steal other teams’ points, adding a strategic element to the competition.
Team Australia features Rio 2016 Olympic finalists Morgan Mitchell, Genevieve LaCaze, Ryan Gregson and Fabrice Lapierre. Mitchell was unbeaten in the women’s 400m during the Australian domestic season leading up to the Rio Olympics where she made the 400m semi finals as well as the 4x400m final.
Usain Bolt, the fastest man on the planet, will feature as the captain for the Bolt All Stars alongside Asafa Powell and Michael Frater from Jamaica, Jenna Prandini and Ryan Wilson from the USA and Rio 400m hurdles gold medallist Kerron Clement.
The event will be spread across three action filled nights at Lakeside Stadium with a range of track and field events categorized and based on power, technique, endurance and teamwork.
