MasterChef judges eat humble pie on Family Feud

It was a case of the contestants dishing it out to the judges on tonight’s episode of All Star Family Feud, when the MasterChef Australia judges suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of their former students.

The judges team – consisting of George Calombaris, Matt Preston, Shannon Bennett and captain Gary Mehigan – were crushed by the contestant team of Julie Goodwin, Dani Venn, Emma Dean and Brent Owens with 722 points against a mere 58.

Facing off against fellow team captain Julie Goodwin in round one, an eager Gary buzzed in before Grant finished the question, leaving him stumped.

After a round one loss, the judges had the chance to redeem themselves in round two but George’s answer to “If you won an award, where would you display it?” was met by a strike.

The judges finally had a win in round three but this was not enough to match the might of the contestants, who were on a roll, winning rounds four, five and six and taking the game.

Brent and team captain Julie volunteered for Fast Money and scored an extra $10,000 for their charity Cure For MND Foundation, taking their winnings to a total of $30,000. The judges were awarded $10,000 for the Sacred Heart Mission for participating.

Next week’s episode of All Star Family Feud features some of Australia’s finest comedic talent in what is set to be the funniest episode yet.

Team captain Dave O’Neil will lead team mates Anne Edmonds, Harley Breen and Em Rusciano for The Pyjama Foundation. Playing against them will be Long Lost Family co-host Anh Do with Fiona O’Loughlin, Emily Taheny and Tripod’s Steven “Gatesy” Gates for Youth Off The Streets.

All Star Family Feud airs Mondays, 7.30pm on Ten.
