Stan has commissioned new Stan Original Series, The Gloaming, a bold 8-part drama series created by The Kettering Incident’s Victoria Madden, which will premiere in 2019.
Produced by Madden and John Molloy (Molly, Boys in the Trees), and in partnership with Disney’s ABC Studios International, with Disney Media Distribution taking the show to audiences globally, The Gloaming will be shot in Tasmania, against the stunning backdrop of Tasmania’s capital city Hobart and the island’s darkly seductive landscapes.
Following on from her enthralling series The Kettering Incident, Madden has created a new genre-bending original drama series. The Gloaming:the twilight space where light meets dark, the space between awake and asleep, where time passes but secrets linger… Unorthodox, troubled cop Molly McGee leads an investigation into the murder of an unidentified woman. To solve the case, Molly has to team up with Alex O’Connell – a man she hasn’t spoken to in twenty years – and they discover that the murder has links to a cold case from the past. What begins as a routine investigation exposes something more insidious, and to catch the killer, Molly and Alex have to face the ghosts of their past.
The Gloaming will join the ever-growing list of premium Stan Originals including the AACTA Award-winning and Logie Award-nominated series No Activity, with its US adaptation produced by Will Ferrell’s production company Funny Or Die, which has been renewed for a second season; the critically acclaimed AACTA Award-winning and Logie Award-nominated drama series Wolf Creek; The Other Guy, recently licensed to Hulu in the U.S. and Super Channel in Canada and, most recently, four time Logie nominated Romper Stomper.
