Nine launches 9Honey

Nine today launched a new dedicated online offering catering to everyday Australian women – the 9Honey network – with an exclusive interview with former model and mother of three, international reality TV star Yolanda Hadid.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, who is also the mother of social media superstars Gigi, Bella and Anwar Hadid, helped launch the 9Honey network at Nine’s Upfront and Personal event at The Star in Sydney, and was interviewed by Nine’s Leila McKinnon.  She spoke about her experiences modelling in Australia in the 1990s, her love for her children, her ongoing battle with Lyme disease and her determination to find a cure.

Hadid’s first interview for 9Honey will be broadcast on A Current Affair later this week, with the reality star also agreeing to be a contributor to the 9Honey website over the coming months.

Helen McCabe, Nine’s head of lifestyle, said the interview with Hadid, who is part of the 9Honey launch, comes as Nine looks to grow its online offering for Australian women.

“The audience of the 9Honey network will be the women who watch Nine’s television shows and who are increasingly looking to online for timely, reliable, well-edited news, celebrity and lifestyle content,” said McCabe.

“Yolanda Hadid is just the beginning for the 9Honey network. We are transforming all of our verticals across celebrity, beauty, fitness, fashion, food and travel.

“This is an audience nine.com.au already knows very well, so it is a logical step for the business.”

The 9Honey network launch also sees Nine Digital launching 9Mums, content designed to engage and inform busy mothers, with Nine’s existing beauty and fashion website rebranded as 9Style and 9Honey becoming the umbrella brand.

The brands within the 9Honey network now include: celebrity news site 9TheFix; cooking and recipe site 9Kitchen; interior design site 9Homes; fashion and beauty site 9Style; travel site 9Elsewhere; and fitness website 9Coach, alongside its newest offering 9Mums.

“9Mums was really the missing piece of the puzzle. We wanted to have a conversation with women around children, family, relationships and parenting and we are confident that this will help us do that,” said McCabe, who noted that Nine’s television talent would also write for 9Honey, with the likes of Leila McKinnon, Shelley Craft and Sonia Kruger contributing to the website.

“The really exciting part of this announcement is that 9Honey will be able to draw on the best Nine has to offer in news, opinion and of course video.”

Helen McCabe also announced that 9Honey will be edited by former supervising producer of A Current Affair, Kerri Elstub. “Kerri’s previous experience at Nine in a variety of roles, including executive producer of Weekend Today and Kerri-Anne, makes her the right person to edit the 9Honey network because she truly understands the audience.”

“I’m incredibly excited to be joining 9Honey,” said Kerri Elstub, editor of the 9Honey network. “We have this real opportunity to engage the millions of women who watch our TV shows with great content they can truly relate to
