Fashion designer and model Nadia Bartel became the first to hang up her dancing shoes on tonight’s Dancing With The Stars after AFL legend Ben Cousins escaped a close brush with elimination.
Having recovered from her injury, an emotional Julie Goodwin thrilled the crowd with her Viennese Waltz, scoring 27 points.
Home and Away star James Stewart’s expressive Contemporary dance received a total of 31 from the judges and a standing ovation from the audience, including co-stars Ada Nicodemou and Jessica Redmayne.
Star of the silver screen, Lisa McCune, put up a good fight for pole position with her rocking Jive. The performance ended with her handcuffed to Craig Revel Horwood, and after being unable to find the key to release him, the judge joined Lisa and Ian in the skybox where she received 30 points.
SAS Australia Chief Instructor Ant Middleton showed his softer side with an elegant Viennese Waltz, earning himself 30 points. Mark Wilson commented: “For you being such a tough guy, I can’t believe what we just saw because it was so sweet.”
Ben Cousins slightly improved this week with his Cha Cha. Craig said his ironing board has more hip action, but he “loves (his) face. I can’t keep my eyes off it”. Ben scored 16 out of 40.
Sharna Burgess complimented Nadia Bartel for facing her fears during her Tango, while Craig commented her frame was weak. Nadia received 15 points.
Before the night was through, the audience vote placed Ben and Siobhan and Nadia and Lyu in the dance off. Ben and Siobhan committed to their Salsa, while Nadia faltered in her Waltz.
When the elimination moment arrives, it was Nadia who is sent home by the judges.
