A Remarkable Place To Die Review

A Remarkable Place To Die Review

Last night Nine unveiled a newbie from our friends across the ditch in A Remarkable Place To Die.

Anais Mallory (Chelsie Preston Crayford) has returned to Queenstown from Sydney to become a detective. Her mum Veronica (Rebecca Gibney) is frosty at best, still in the shadows of grief after her other daughter Lynne (Tara Canton) drove off the edge of a cliff.

Anais’ first case sees her investigating a car tumbling over the cliff with a dead body inside. Helping her is Constable Jarrod Renner (Dahnu Graham) and Senior Constable Hoana Rata (Roimata Fox), who try to identify the body. Rounding out the department is Inspector Sharon Li Feng (Lynette Forday), Detective Simon Delaney (Matt Whelan), and pathologist Ihaka (Alex Tarrant).

As the investigation deepens, Anais inevitably gets a blast from the past, Charles (Jazz Terrier), who has just happened to move on and marry her best friend Maja (Indiana Evans).

A Remarkable Place TO Die takes a telemovie approach, with four 90-minute episodes that follow the case-of-the-week format as Anais embarks on a quest for answers throughout the series.

Chelsie Preston Crayford is a standout, appearing in almost every scene, while Gibney is fantastic as always.

A Remarkable Place To Die is perfect for mystery lovers over the summer.
