Waleed Aly is the new Project Co Host

Ten has confirmed the new Project Co Host is none other then Waleed Aly

Viewers will be able to catch the popular Walkley Award-winning journalist, broadcaster, author, academic, rock musician, sports fan and all-round nice guy five nights a week.

Network Ten Executive Director of News and Current Affairs, Peter Meakin, said: “I have long been a fan of Waleed’s intellect and versatility. As a full-time member of The Project team, he will help to expand our horizons. I look forward to a year of serious fun.”

On his appointment to the role Waleed said: “Shows like The Project don’t come along very often. It’s the biggest innovation we’ve seen in news for decades and it’s frankly an honour to be trusted with it. I love Carrie and Pete as broadcasters and as people, so I can’t wait to take the reins from Rove. Following a Gold Logie-winning Australian television icon who is now my boss should be a breeze, really.”

The Project Executive Producer Craig Campbell said: “Waleed is completely at home on The Project set and has proven his ability to move seamlessly between the mix of news and entertainment that is the program’s trademark. Having him permanently join us in 2015 is a brilliant addition to the show.”

Waleed, has been a part of The Project family for over three years, will join Carrie Bickmore and Pete Helliar as a permanent member of the panel in 2015 from Monday January 26.

The Project airs 6:30 PM weeknights on Ten
