The X Factor finds it’s top 8

Last night The X Factor farewelled two favorites as the top 8 were announced.

Dannii Minogue came under fire with Guy Sebastian, James Blunt and Chris Isaak critical of 15-year-old Georgia Denton, calling I’ll Be There a “pedestrian” song choice.

Sadly, Australia agreed with the Melbourne singer scoring the lowest number of votes to become the first act eliminated from the bottom three.
Another one of Dannii’s girls – Mahalia Simpson – and Jimmy Davis were then left to battle it out for survival. The 22-year-old’s performance of Ella Fitzgerald’s Summertime outshone Jimmy’s version of Rocket Man with all the judges bar Chris voting in her favour.

The  eliminated contestants were gracious in defeat. Georgia said: “The X Factor  is the best thing I’ve done in my life. I want to thank everyone, especially Dannii. I’m so grateful to have got this far.”

Chris Isaak was full of praise for the Queenslander Jimmy, 21, saying: “I’m hoping when Jimmy is playing in arenas, he remembers me.”

It was a gigantic show with a world exclusive performance from the biggest girl group on the planet, Little Mix; UK Grammy-award winner Jess Glynne showcased a medley of hits with the top 10  rock legend Chris Isaak also lit up the stage.

Next up, it’s Rock Week! The remaining eight contestants will storm the stage with the biggest rock
hits ever.

The X Factor  airs Monday and  Tuesday 7.30pm on Seven.
