The Living Room May 10

Amanda Keller, Chris Brown, Miguel Maestre and Barry du Bois present a mother’s day special of The Living Room.

TRAVEL: ADRENALINE MUM’S DAY

Mother’s day doesn’t have to be all about flowers and chocolates. Chris Brown treats three mums to an action packed adventure. Chris surprises the busy mums at Sydney’s luxurious Langham Hotel Day Spa to see if they’re willing to swap their face packs for jet packs blasting hundreds of litres of water, pushing the ladies in the air up to 10 metres. This is sure to be a mother’s day these mums won’t forget.

IN STUDIO: THE LIVING ROOM’S FIRST BABY

Last season on The Living Room, Barry du Bois helped 25 Aussie families renovate their homes. Some made money with ‘renovate for profit’ projects, while others made their houses feel more like home. And for one couple, there was a renovation bonus they weren’t expecting. Deb and Paul McCormack’s master bedroom and ensuite had lost its loving feeling and they called in Barry to help bring the romance back.  An $18,000 budget, a Hamptons inspired theme and a lot of DIY resulted in a room the couple never wanted to leave. Nine months later they welcomed a new addition to their family, baby Jasper Paul. The family join Barry and the team in the studio to introduce their new arrival.

FOOD: BILPIN APPLE PIE BAKE OFF

In 2013 the Aussie apple industry turns 225. To celebrate, Miguel Maestre is on his way to one of New South Wales’ premier apple growing regions, Bilpin, for an apple pie bake off with some of the town’s best baking mums. Does Miguel have what it takes to take on the ladies of Bilpin on their own home turf?

MONEY: MUMPRENEUR

The mums of Australia are taking the business world by storm with home-grown, money-making ideas and creative enterprises. But how do you take a good idea or a hobby and turn it into a viable business? Our resident money-man, Jason Cunningham meets fledgling mumpreneur Melanie Zammit and helps her take her card making hobby to the next level.

HOME: RENO RESCUE MUM’S BEDROOM/ENSUITE

Kate and Shane have been living in and renovating their 1960s home for 6 years. But Kate’s dream of a luxurious master bedroom and ensuite has been left last on the list. Bathrooms are usually a tough job for DIYers, but Baz shows hubby Shane how to wow his Missus with a tile-free bathroom that you can build in just four days.
