The 5th ACCTA Awards to screen in full on Foxtel

Last night, Australia’s leading film and television talent came together i at the 5th AACTA Awards Ceremony and Foxtel has the ceremony in  full.

The prestigious event saw Foxtel’s Pamela Rabe win the award for Best Lead Actress in a Television Drama for her chilling performance as Joan ‘The Freak’ Ferguson on season three of SoHo’s Wentworth.

In a special one-off presentation, Foxtel’s perennial favourite Love My Way was announced as winner of the AACTA Subscription Television 20th Anniversary Award for Best Drama, as judged by a select group of television writers and critics. The award marks the recently announced partnership with the Australian Subscription Television and Radio Association (ASTRA), which will see AACTA extend its subscription television awards as of next year.

Leading Australian actress Cate Blanchett was honoured with the highest screen accolade, the AACTA Longford Lyell Award, and received tributes from some of the world’s biggest names in film, including Martin Scorsese, Alejandro González Iñárritu, Robert Redford, Ridley Scott and Ron Howard.

Presenters at the star-studded event included A Place to Call Home’s Marta Dusseldorp, Sacha Horler and Henry Nixon stars of The Kettering Incident, as well as Patrick Brammall, Mel Gibson, Radha Mitchell, Daniel MacPherson, Stephen Peacocke, Erik Thomson, Megan Gale, Bonnie Sveen and Georgie Parker.

The awards featured musical performances from Justice Crew, Birds of Tokyo, this year’s winner of The X Factor, Cyrus, and international hit-makers, British dance group Rudimental.

The red carpet was a dazzling affair with cast members of A Place to Call Home and Wentworth, including new cast member Sigrid Thornton gracing the carpet, as well as Open Slather’s Magda Szubanski and Simon Burke of Devil’s Playground. Other guests and nominees attend including George Miller, Anthony LaPaglia, Hugo Weaving, Rachael Griffiths, Ryan Corr, Margaret Pomeranz, Alexandra Schepisi, Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Samantha Harris and Bindi Irwin.

 The special broadcast will screen on Masterpiece tomorrow at 10:15pm, Arena on Saturday at 6:30pm and the Foxtel Arts Channel on Sunday at 7:30pm.
