Well, this would have to be the most unfair way to be eliminated from the Biggest Loser Game.
In a shocking turn of events, Cliff Hailwood was unexpectedly eliminated from TBL Families. As the white team’s last remaining member, Cliff’s elimination also marked the end for his dedicated trainer Tiffiny Hall.
The Golden Fork Temptation challenge saw Cliff face-off against the unstoppable red team’s Tony Jofre. With Tony-winning the challenge, his prize was one of the biggest game-changers in TBL history: the power to eliminate one contestant immediately.
Realising his head was on the chopping block, Cliff pleaded with Tony to keep him safe, saying: “My main reason for being here is [baby daughter] Sophia. I’m worried she will grow up without a father. I need this to change my life and my daughter’s life.”
But with the finish line in sight, Tony made the strategic decision to send his biggest competitor Cliff home immediately.
An emotional Cliff said: “Leaving Camp TBL, I’m proud of what I’ve already achieved. Before coming on the show, I was angry. Tiff has definitely changed my outlook on life. I think I’m well on track with my goal of being a better dad and being more active. “This is only the start of my new life.”
Cliff’s departure signalled the end for his trainer Tiffiny Hall. With no remaining contestants to train, it was Tiffiny’s time to go.
Tiffiny said: “I’m devastated. Cliff was having such a turnaround. He let go of all the anger and was training so well. I’m gutted, not only because I have no more contestants left in the TBL house, but now I’ve got to leave to and I was having fun.
“When I first met the Hailwoods, they were overweight, over-eating and unhappy. Wait until the finale. When the Hailwoods show up, they’re going to be showstoppers. And I’m proud of that.”
During his time on TBL Families, Cliff went from 191 kilograms to 157.8 kilograms, losing a total of 33.2 kilograms or 17.38% of his body weight.
