Following Mat’s shock departure, Benji was quick to jump on the throne and claim the title of The Godfather as he eagerly plotted out his next big move.
The Castaways drew for rocks at the Reward Challenge which landed Benji and Shane as
Team Captains in the fight for a banquet of fried chicken. Team Shane took the title, giving Shane the prime opportunity to convince Sharn, Monica and Brian that Benji is a danger to everyone’s game. Not only did Brian head back to camp with a full stomach of chicken and coke, he also returned with the safety net of a hidden Immunity Idol.
The Castaways found their rhythm at the Immunity Challenge as they bounced their ball on a disc for as long as they could muster. Brian and Steve were the last men standing as they put their ball skills to test, but it was Brian who claimed his first Immunity win.
After learning that Shonee has a secret advantage up her sleeve, the Champions alliance scrambled to get Brian back on board, however Brian was sceptical of joining forces with them after they put his name down at the previous Tribal Council.
Benji made the biggest slip up in Survivor history when he approached Brian with a fake plan in an attempt to spread hysteria. In the company of Shonee, Benji informed Brian that Sharn is suggesting they vote him off, which did not compute as Brian was standing there with an Immunity necklace fixed around his neck. Shonee attempted to cover up Benji’s bluff by reinforcing that Sharn is making plans for next Tribal Council however there was no coming back from Benji’s stumble.
At Tribal Council, Sharn spoke of her regret for letting master manipulator Benji into her head. Benji remained proud of his decision, arguing it was a crucial play for his own survival. While Brian applauded Benji’s ability to execute a masterful move under pressure, his powerful position within the tribe ended up being instrumental in sending home the game’s biggest unruly threat.
Shonee leant on her secret advantage and removed Sharn’s vote which resulted in a tie between Sharn and Benji. Benji’s faith in his “Mighty Ducks” was not enough to save him from the re-vote, which saw him sent home with his Immunity Idol burning a hole in his pocket.
The smiling assassin farewelled the island with these last words: “The Champions stuck together and pulled the wool over my eyes, I didn’t see it coming, so the idol is still in my bag right now. They knew if I got to the end I would win and that is why they voted me out”.
