The Block apartments will go under the hammer next week.

Three months ago ten ordinary Australians, with limited renovating experience, embarked upon the biggest challenge of their lives – to transform an octagonal-shaped former motel into a luxurious, state-of-the-art apartment complex.

Each level of the building has now been transformed into a 225-square metre apartment, with all levels boasting 360-degree vistas of Melbourne.

Our Blockheads have created five three-bedroom, four-bathroom apartments, each with an expansive outdoor terrace taking in sweeping city views.

Each couple will keep any profit their apartment sells for over its reserve price at auction. The couple whose property sells for the most above reserve will be declared the winners ofThe Block and pocket an extra $100,000.

Earlier this year history was made when the eight contestants on The Block Triple Threatwent home with a staggering total of $3.165 million between them, including a very cool $935,000 for the winners, Darren and Deanne Jolly.

But just six months earlier, two teams in The Block Glasshouse were left shattered when their apartments left them with a profit of just $10,000. In television’s ultimate reality renovation program, the fate of The Block renovators will be put in the hands of the buying public.

The teams are

Apartment 1:             Caro & Kingi (QLD)

Apartment 2:             Andrew & Whitney (VIC)

Apartment 3:             Suzi & Vonni (QLD)

Apartment 4:             Luke & Ebony (WA)

Apartment 5:             Dean & Shay (NSW)

A mammoth $12,101,501 has now been earned by contestants across ten series of The Block, which will return for its twelfth series next year.

The Block Grand Finale airs Wednesday, November 25, At 7.30pm On Channel Nine
